1. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
The 2013 movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, starring Farhan Akhtar and directed by Rakesh Om, is based on the life of the late Milkha Singh, known as the “Flying Sikh.”Prakash Mehra describes how Milkha Singh overcame homelessness and losing his family as a result of the partition to become one of the best athletes in the nation. The movie emphasises commitment, discipline, and hard work while emphasising the importance of never giving up. Farhan underwent a remarkable transformation, both physically and mentally. One of the best sports biopics ever produced, this movie always leaves us feeling inspired.
2. Dangal
Dangal, one of the best films of 2016, stars Amir Khan, Fatima Sana Sheikh, and Sanya Malhotra. It is based on the lives of Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat, two legendary wrestlers. We must admit that, despite Amir Khan’s presence in the movie, the girls’ outstanding acting abilities stole the show. The plot centres on Mahavir Singh Phogat (Amir Khan), who wants to raise his boys to be great wrestlers but is disappointed that he is childless. He soon learns, however, that his daughters can wrestle because it runs in the family. Then he trains them to become the best female wrestlers in the nation. The movie is all about how people need to change and how powerful women are.
3. English Vinglish
English Vinglish, a Gauri Shinde-directed film starring the talented Sridevi, conveys an essential message to the audience. The main character of the movie is Shashi (Sridevi), a housewife who is mocked by her family and society because she can’t speak English well. But when she decides to enrol in English speaking classes while visiting her family in the US, her life is forever altered. There, she meets a lot of people who are just like her, and they help her realise that she should value herself and not consider the limited viewpoint that society has given her. The audience was moved by the film’s strong message to value oneself above all else, which is why it was so well received.
4. Gully Boy
One should watch Gully Boy only once in their lifetime. This movie is a true masterpiece in every way—from the plot, to the cast, to the dialogue and the songs. The focus of Zoya Akhtar’s film, directed by Ranveer Singh and starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, and Siddhant Chaturvedi, is rapper-aspiring Murad (Ranveer Singh), who lives in the Mumbai shantytowns. The movie makes a strong point about how society forbids people from having dreams, but that all it takes to soar is a little courage. Ranveer has, of course, performed brilliantly in his parts in the song “Apna Time Aayega.” Watch Gully Boy if you’re afraid of having big dreams.
5. Mary Kom
The movie is based on the legendary Indian boxer MC Mary Kom, as its title suggests. In the film, Mary Kom discusses how her career began, the challenges she faced, and how she overcame them. The movie, which stars Priyanka Chopra, is really strong woman-centered and demonstrates how Mary Kom, an Olympic medal-winning boxer, balanced her ever-expanding career, marriage, and motherhood. With constant practise, Priyanka really demonstrated her ability to play any role with ease and her understanding of how to connect with each character’s soul. Anyone who is attempting to balance their life should watch this.
6. Pad Man
The society is given a crucial message about women’s sanitary conditions in the nation by Pad Man. The R Balki-directed movie, which starred Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte, and Sonam Kapoor, was very well-made and inspirational. Laxmikant (Akshay Kumar) goes on a quest to make pads for his wife, who uses unhygienic cloth during her periods, in the story. After that, he creates a machine that can produce affordable sanitary pads and raises awareness of it. The movie did a really good job of bringing up such a significant and delicate issue.
7. Panga
I’m a mother, and mothers don’t dream. This line from the movie Panga perfectly sums up the life of every woman who sacrifices her dreams in order to provide for her family and children. The story is based on the life of a national level Kabbadi player who decided to leave her career behind to raise her family but later returned to it with the support of her loved ones. All age stereotypes are broken in the story, and Kangana did an excellent job portraying her.
8. Super 30
Anand Kumar, played by Hrithik Roshan, is a mathematical prodigy who gets the chance to visit Cambridge University but is unable to do so due to financial difficulties. He then begins working as a tutor at a coaching centre, but soon realises that he needs to work with students who want to attend IIT but lack the funds to enrol in coaching centres. As a result, he launches the Super 30 training programme. The movie will transport you on an emotional roller coaster.
9. Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara
The movie Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara, which was directed by Zoya Akhtar and features Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, Kalki, and Katrina Kaif, conveys the crucial lesson to live life to the fullest without having any regrets. Three friends, Kabir (Abhay Deol), Imraan (Farhan Akhtar), and Arjun (Hrithik Roshan), travel to Spain to celebrate Kabir’s bachelor party in the centre of the narrative. But as he travels, Arjun comes to the realisation that the most crucial thing in his life is not living each moment to the fullest and being grateful for everything he has.
10. Thappad
Taapsee Pannu has created a very impressive career graph for herself, continuing to work on films that are entertaining and educational at the same time. Given the compelling plot of never having to give in to patriarchal expectations by being a woman who cannot voice her opinions, Thappad is one of the actress’s most impressive films. Amrita (Taapsee Pannu), who portrays a devout and content wife, leads a routine and happy life with her husband Vikram (Pavail Gulati). However, things go wrong at a work party when Vikram slaps Amrita as a result of an accident at work. Amrita decides to file for divorce since she believes that there is no valid reason to continue the marriage.Amrita chooses to file for divorce rather than remain silent and keep her head down because she believes there is no defence for the physical assault she experienced. A slap cannot be disregarded, and Taapsee once more shines in this Anubhav Sinha film as a role model for contemporary Indian women by standing up for her rights and determination.
